Ki Sisa - Torah Thoughts

Ki Sisa

Feb 14 & 15, 2014  Adar 1 14 &15, 5774

In this portion, it is indeed stressed the importance of sincerely preserving human dignity, and how very important it is to make sure that a person can and is allowed to maintain his/her dignity with in his/her group, be it professionally, with in the social aspects we all interact, or in your own family unit.

One of the worst things or behaviors one person or a group can do to another human being is humiliate him/her,and treat him with out any respect.  We ALL have the distinct need and true feeling that we are important and matter.  It reminds me of what my mom used to say to me when I was a little boy and when a 'friend' would call me names for whatever reason, "Sticks and stones will break your bones,, but names will never hurt you!"  Comforting of sorts, but NOT so true,as I reflect on the true meaning.  Names do indeed hurt feelings and are demoralizing, and even diminish one's self esteem.  The words or ill actions towards another person is not only hurtful to the receiver, but it lessens the own validity of the person or group treating another human being in any ill manner.

One's very own ethics are vital, and should be respected.  With ETHICS comes the principles of Truth, Justice, and Peace.  All three of these important facets are related to and intertwined to DIGNITY!

One really must look in the mirror and see the reflection, and search deep inside, and have complete comprehension of Self Pride, Humiliation, Respect,Love,Kindness, and the abilities to practice DIGNITY to ALL!

The word, "reciprocity" is key, 'The Golden Rule',and even sometimes,it is important to walk away from confrontation,to absorb what's going on and have peace, again sometimes. It is wrong to humiliate another; we must practice patience and a sincere and deep, heartfelt understanding, and with that said, we also must learn to always stand up for ourselves with a respectful manner,as it shows our own respect and dignity for ourselves and humankind.  Humility is  is not being weak; it is being humble and respectful.

Amen
