Mishpatim - You're The C.E.O. With Your Partnership
Shevat 24/25, 5775 February 13/14, 2015
Parsha (Torah Portion) Mishpatim continues to introduce Commandments/Mitzvahs/Laws. There are different types of Mitzvahs in this Parsha - 1. Ritual laws , laws that define the relationship between a person and G-d. 2. Civil Laws , The relationship between a person and his/her neighbor and society. 3. Ethical Law - "We are created in the image of G-d",and should view all humankind with this in mind. These are very simplistic and very short definitions.
The ethical aspect is most definitely the greatest teaching Judaism has given to the world! Every person is created in the image of G-d and should take this to heart, and practice in the essential divine values; every person is important, unique and deserves an absolute respect. One should not create havoc of the צֶלֶם אֱלֹהִים tzelem elohim/one's divine image of G-d! This is the basis of law, respect, dignity and our sincere relationship with not just one another in the world, but with G-d!
In the Parsha, " ....people of the holiness you should be to me. " To have a relationship with G-d, you must strive for that of holiness. This is speaking of human dignity, preserving our own feelings and understanding them, having self worth, and continuing your walk daily.
We all must always strive, and in today's modern society full of deviation(s), it's not so easy at times. Each and everyone of us has choices, and if we strive for that ethical, moralistic, and Holy map that was shared with ALL of us, we'll be in a better place! You're the C.O.O and it's YOUR partnership that determines YOU.
