The Ninth Plague: Darkness
10:21
G-D said to Moses, "Stretch out your hand toward the heavens, and there shall be darkness upon the land of Egypt, and the darkness will be tangible."
22
Moses stretched forth his hand toward the heavens and there was a thick darkness throughout the land of Egypt for a three-day period.
23
No person could see his brother or sister, nor could anyone rise from his/her place for a three-day period; but for all the Children of Israel there was light in their dwellings.
........................... 11:1
And G-D said to Moses, Yet, I will bring one plague more upon Pharaoh, and upon Egypt; afterwards he will let you go from here: when he shall let you go, he shall drive you out altogether from here.
2
Speak now in the ears of the people, and let every person ask of his neighbor, vessels of silver and vessels of gold.
moreover the man Moses was very great in the land of Egypt, in the sight of Pharaoh's servants, and in the sight of the people.

The ("Hebrews") Jewish people took advantage of this opportunity, and entered the homes of their neighboring Egyptians, and discovered their own valuables!  When the Egyptians claimed to have no valuables of their Jewish neighbors, the question arose, "well, what about the______ in the back of the closet?"   Magic? NO!  The home owner was was amazed!

You may ask, "Why did the Egyptians give up and have some admission?   Scared of another plague, and thinking enough Hocus Pocus Magic?!

A Magic spell from G-D was not cast upon anybody either!   Their was a DEFINITE reason for them to see the enslaved in a different LIGHT and in a favorable manner; G-D gave the enslaved Hebrews (in the eyes of the Egyptians)the act of favor, beauty, grace, charm,AND the action and sincere manner of The Hebrews is what made the major difference!   NOT one of the valuable possessions was removed or taken back during the days of darkness and days of unrestricted access!  It was their ability to show true restraint that  impressed the Egyptians.

It was the Hebrew's superior moral manner, and sincere sweetness and charm that shined through!

As my mom used to say to me, "Barralach, You can catch more flies with honey than you can with vinegar!"   Mom, you're absolutely correct!
