VE-ZO’T HA BERAKHAH
So here we are now after a few weeks of study, and
leading up to Moses facing his own mortality; G-d has instructed and given directives to Moses that he may ONLY view The Promised Land, of Milk and Honey, but NOT enter, and he shall die and
ascend to heaven on the Mountain top overlooking Israel, “THE PROMISED LAND”, and give his own directives to his
people and their leaders……………………PLEASE Note, That he has lead his pack and THIS
Journey for the last 40 years; Not too bad for an 80 year old, and Now a
Hundred and Svansick!
(Speak
softly) Moses, a teacher, a leader, a reverent man, and
a friend to his people,….. A man of G-d sitting upon a mountain atop awaiting
his final departure to heaven, (pause) and ready to
share his final thoughts;
He speaks, addresses and instructs (Speak slowly
and quietly) Reuben, Judah, Levi, Benjamin, Joseph,
Zebulun, Gad, Dan, Naphtali, and Asher with individual, and spiritual messages
for them to take to heart and become the leaders of THE NEW PROMISED LAND!(pause)
Please allow me to read ,Deuteronomy 33. 26 - 33.29
“26…………………….. there is none like God,
Riding through the heavens to help you,
Through the skies in His majesty.
27 The ancient God is a refuge,
A support are the arms everlasting.
He drove out the enemy before you
By His command: Destroy!
28 …Thus Israel dwells in safety,
Untroubled is Jacob's abode,
In a land of grain and wine,
Under heavens dripping dew.
29 O happy Israel! Who is like you,
A people delivered by the Lord,
Your protecting Shield, your Sword triumphant!
Your enemies shall come cringing before you,
And you shall tread on their backs.”
Moses ascends upward to the mountain top and
views Israel, per G-d’s instruction, AND sees all the land, and REALLY views it
one last time! Moses is then taken by
G-d. (Silence and
pause)
THEN For 30 days, the proper mourning occurs.
Deuteronomy 34.10 – 34.12
“10 Never again did there arise in Israel a
prophet like Moses — whom the Lord singled out, face to face, 11 for the
various signs and portents that the Lord sent him to display in the land of
Egypt, against Pharaoh and all his court, and his whole country, 12 and for all
the great might and awesome power that Moses displayed before all Israel.”
WOW!!!!!!!!
I would like to share a thought to think about:
1.
Moses
has overcome his very own personal triumphs and tribulations and has really grown
into a modern day hero, then unselfishly leads a group to the promised land,
although……. NOT allowed to enter, only to view. In his life he had experienced,
abandonment, adoption (a great thing), deceit, truth, love, hatred, riches,
impoverishment, famine, slavery, freedom, speech impediment (and somewhat overcame
it too), direction, leadership. His
life was devoted to HIS people and overcoming his and their adversities, and
seeking that of peace for them. With
all the great things Moses has done over his 120 years of life, and the last 40
years… 100% devoted to the Journey to Israel, but ONLY to VIEW! So,
I ask all of you, How do you view this……………
Moses a true hero, and chosen and hand-picked by G-d to lead the People
out of bondage and slavery to the Promised Land, but not allowed to touch the
BLESSED soil, as He (Moses) and his brother Aaron did not follow G-d’s rule as
described in Numbers and they deviated
from G-d’s wishes just once. So in turn,
this was G-d’s way and his grievance.
How can
somebody come so very far in a true leadership role, and so very close, yet,
not reach his or her destination to full fruition……..? Or did Moses actually reach it, and that was
in the plan? He did indeed LEAD the masses to THE PROMISED
LAND! He just missed the finish line himself, that of crossing Jordan to
Israel. Is it wrong to think outside
the box, to be different, to speak of one’s mind, to be expressive, to be
liberating, to truly believe in an idea, and attempt to construct to great
SUCCESSES???! It is NOT!!! (softly although, one should definitely show his/her
loyalty to G-d). Great Leaders and their
successes all have experienced failure and deviation from what is considered
the ‘Norm”, and THAT is what makes or has made them great!
………..He did
not speak until he was four years old, and couldn't read until he was seven.
His parents thought he was "sub-normal." He was expelled from school
and his teachers described him as "mentally slow, unsociable and adrip
forever in foolish dreams." Albert
Einstein.
A professor
suggested he drop out of the English department and college altogether. At his
very first job, he was paid in cases of shaving cream, soda and nail clippers.
His first book was rejected by 27 publishers before printers accepted it. Dr. Seuss!
Moses was a
true hero, and YES he deviated once. He
will always be remembered as LEGENDARY!
My subtle
point is: NEVER to give up YOUR dream
and YOUR determination, no matter what adversities YOU face, as has meaning to
YOU, and REMEMBER, we all have our very own checkered flag at OUR finish
line! To me, Moses did indeed finish and
reach his checked flag!
Amen
